Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Council of the Northern Village of Air Ronge held in the Council Chambers on July 16, 2008
Present were Mayor Gordon Stomp; Deputy-Mayor Terry DesRoches; Councillors Shane Delaney, Jeff Simpson, Tom Carlson; Administrator Louise Baht.
A quorum being present, Mayor Stomp called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
Agenda: Simpson/DesRoches That the agenda be approved as presented. Carried.
Minutes: DesRoches/Delaney That the minutes of the regular meeting held June 18, 2008, be approved as read. Carried.
Delegation: R.C.M.P. Staff Sgt. Rick Miller and Cpl. Linda Gaumond attended a portion of the meeting to present written and verbal policing reports for Air Ronge. (7:07 to 7:25)
Delegation: Tom Hamilton attended a portion of the meeting to discuss the possible development of a residential lot east of Stinsin Street in Air Ronge. (7:26 to 7:55)
Reports presented included:
1. Councillor Simpson’s written Monthly Waterworks Review
DesRoches/Carlson That the Monthly Waterworks Review be acknowledged and filed. Carried.
Residential Lot Development: DesRoches/Carlson That the Northern Revenue Sharing Trust Account board be asked to proceed with the pre-design and design of a new residential subdivision on the West side of Highway #2 in Air Ronge with the understanding that, if the Village doesn’t proceed with the project after receipt of the aforementioned pre-design and design reports, the costs of said reports will be taken from the Village’s
operating grants. Carried.
C.I.B.C. Property: Simpson/DesRoches That the buildings located at 254 Beaver Street, more particularly described as Lot 8, Block 23, Plan 60PA14526, be declared a nuisance because the buildings are dangerous to the public safety and substantially depreciate the value of other property in the vicinity; and that C.I.B.C. Mortgages Inc., the registered and assessed owner, be ordered to: Demolish and remove the said buildings and to fill in any open basement or excavation on the site after the demolition or removal; and to complete the work on or before the 15th day of September, 2008; and that if the owner does not comply with the order within the specified time: 1) the Administrator be authorized to take whatever steps that she considers necessary to carry out Council’s Order concerning the demolition of the said buildings located at 254 Beaver Street; and 2) all of the costs incurred in the tendering process and in the demolition work be added to, and thereby form part of, the taxes on the land known as 254 Beaver Street. Carried.

Dogs: Simpson/DesRoches That, upon receipt of a written complaint from Lloyd Nielsen about Chelsie Breeze’s two dogs having attacked and injured his dog, a complaint be filed by the Village to the Provincial Court asking that the dogs be declared dangerous. Carried.
Blast-Rock: Simpson/Carlson That Lac La Ronge Regional Water Corporation be granted permission to haul boulders and blast-rock to Parcel AH, Plan 93PA07657, in Air Ronge. Carried.
Financial Reports: Simpson/Delaney That the bank reconciliation statement for June, 2008, attached to and forming part of these minutes be acknowledged; and that June’s budget-comparison and receipts and payments statements be acknowledged and filed. Carried.
Accounts Payable: Delaney/Carlson That payment of the accounts, shown on the “List of Accounts for Approval” attached to and forming part of these minutes, be approved. Carried.
